What I like in Taipei during summer, cold noodles are available everywhere. My favorite place to buy is 7-11, yes you heard me there are more than 5,000 "7-11 Convenient Stores in Taiwan" like every corner has one. I bought the peanut dressing (I'm not fun of) and prepared at home by using my favorite sesame dressing. With the cold noodles, I also bought hard boiled egg in tea and fresh mixed vege salad.
This is how it looks like, with two dressings and slices of cucumber and carrots.
As I've mentioned, I disregard the sauce and prepared my own.
Tahini Sauce:
mix 2 tablespoon of sesame paste
drop of soysauce
lime juice or vinegar
spice oil, sugar, and salt (optional)
In a bowl, mix all the ingredient. Pour on top of cold noodles. Mix well.
For dessert, I have few slices of apple.
Wow! So many 7-11 stores in Taipei and I realized the varieties are really so many, so much more than in SG! For us, the few fast-food found in 7-11 are sandwiches with different fillings, cup-noodles, mini pizzas, fried noodles, fried rice, nasi lemak etc... I don't see any cold noodles like this. Maybe not many of us know how to appreciate the tastiness of it...
ReplyDeleteI love cold sesame noodles, I remember when I was still in secondary school in Sydney, there was a Taiwanese shop nearby which served this together with bubble tea, it was a real good time, I loved visiting this shop together with a school friend of mine :).
ReplyDeleteI am blown away with the number of 7-11's you have. We had them all over the place when I was a growing up and now I can hardly find one. I now know why....they are all in Taiwan! This looks so healthy and delicious. I can't wait to try your dressing! Thanks!
