Bento-Take Out: Cold Noodles
What I like in Taipei during summer, cold noodles are available everywhere. My favorite place to buy is 7-11, yes you heard me there are more than 5,000 "7-11 Convenient Stores in Taiwan" like every corner has one. I bought the peanut dressing (I'm not fun of) and prepared at home by using my favorite sesame dressing. With the cold noodles, I also bought hard boiled egg in tea and fresh mixed vege salad.

Weekend Food Tour: Ordinary Boxed Meal
This is how it looks like! This is not what I like about the Boxed Meal here in Taiwan. Commonly, everything is mix and added in a box. That's why everything taste the same :) Everything is warm and the food taste good, but it's fatty!

#17 ~ Mixed Grain Rice, Hot Dog, and Tofu
Boat and rice dumplings are always associated with Dragon Boat Festival. If you guys are interested to know one of the story behind this festival, just click my previous post Weekend Food Tour: Dragon Boat Festival from last year. My meal for today is not glutinous rice, it's a mixed-grained rice that can be bought in supermarket. I added fish flakes and sesame inside, sort of rice dumplings. To eat the mixed grain rice, I prepared hot dog, fried egg tofu, fruits and vegetables.

#14 ~ Honey Chicken and Beef Wrapped
I didn't realized making bento is addicted and here I am just moved to a new home. Why Boxed Meal? As I've mentioned in my first bento, 便當 Bian Dang (Piandang) is very famous here in Taiwan. Taiwanese adapted it from Japanese (Japanese invaded Taiwan for more than 50 years). Literally, Bian Dang means A Lunch in a Box. For me, I would just like to emphasized that Boxed Lunch could be eaten any time of the day that's why I end up naming this page Boxed Meal.

#13 ~ Light Meal for Everyone
First time to take out of the house food in a Round Red Box that I bought last Chinese New Year. In Chinese Culture, mostly they use the box for different nuts and spring candies. I thought why not use it for my baking goods, tortilla wrapped, and even for meat. I brought this to our meeting yesterday. Although the box doesn't have any lock, just placing it in a bag still it's convenient to bring.

#08 ~ Peppered Beef Cold Noodles
Bento #08 ~ Peppered Beef Cold Noodles |
It's peppered beef spinach cold noodles. I read so much about cold noodles and pasta salad since I would like to know the difference between noodles and pasta. Actually, I think there's not much difference. Mostly in Asia, we're just used to call noodles and in Western it simply pasta. Anyways, as usual this is an easy way to prepare ahead of time, maybe at night and just place it in the chiller, the following day it's ready to eat.

#06 ~ Smiling Spaghetti and Brocolli
My two previous posts aren't showing, I guess it will take time before Blogger could figure/return them. Anyways, when I made this bento my husband told me it looks like for Halloween :) I thought of Jack-o-lantern. I'm a bit frugal here, I used the left over pizza sauce I made, chopped some peppered beef and added fresh basil and cheese. A great meal indeed!

#05 ~ Fried Chicken and Rice
Bento #05 ~ Fried Chicken and Rice |
Repost: The orginal was taken by blogger :(
I'm eating big time today! Kind of heavy food, but I think it's healthy in a way since it's a complete meal. How I enjoy using my do it yourself (DIY) rice molder and trying to fit all the food into the small lunch box. Good thing in my place where I live, I can buy small portion of everything. For instance, boiled egg, cooked rice, and even fresh fruits and vegetables.

Bento #03 ~ Asparagus and Peppered Beef Egg Wrap |
There's nothing better than having good and healthy breakfast in the morning! I'm trying to give it a try, hoping I can continue waking up early to prepare rather than buying from breakfast store. This took around 10 minutes since I prepared the peppered beef the night before. You can also use ham and other vegetables, and mayonnaise for the dressing. For the dessert, I have cherry tomatoes and cheese.

#01 ~ Smiling Boiled Eggs Fresh Salad
Bunnies that turned into Pigs |
Welcome to the world of Bento (Boxed Meal or Bian Dang /便當). There are two reasons why I started making Healthy Bento. First, I was inspired by Cooking Gallery, then I thought of starting to eat healthy breakfast early morning since my class starts at 10am until 1pm. I always end up eating anything available for grab. I can prepare the food at night, place in the chiller, and ready to eat in the morning.

Weekend Food Tour: A Boxed Meal (Bian Dang)
"便當" (Bian Dang), originally from Japan known also as Bento . Since Japan occupied Taiwan for more than 50 years, A Boxed Meal is adapted and became famous. I bought this one in Taipei International Flora Expo. I like the shape of lunch box, I think I'll be using in making my own Bento. Also a moulder for gelatin, or just simply use it for preparing ingredients :)
